At Nutanix, we’re redefining cloud infrastructure. As a global leader in cloud software and hyper-converged infrastructure solutions, we make IT infrastructure invisible so that businesses can focus on what truly matters — building applications and services that drive innovation.
Our Enterprise Cloud OS empowers organizations to manage applications seamlessly across public, private, and edge clouds — all through a single platform. This enables faster scalability, greater efficiency, and a lower total cost of ownership for IT environments worldwide.
About the Team
If you love working on scalable computing and data platforms, you’ll thrive in the CPaaS (Cloud Platform as a Service) team at Nutanix.
We’re a group of engineers passionate about solving complex scalability challenges using cutting-edge tools and technologies. Our culture reflects a startup mindset — fast-paced, collaborative, and innovation-driven — where you’ll take ownership and build impactful internal platform services that support engineering teams across the organization.
Your Role
As a Software Engineer – Backend, you’ll design and build enterprise lifecycle management software and back-end systems that power Nutanix’s cloud-scale infrastructure.
You’ll have the opportunity to work on high-performance distributed systems, optimize backend performance, and contribute to open-source technologies while building scalable internal services for engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy enterprise lifecycle management software for backend/datastore components.
- Enhance performance, scalability, and reliability of backend services.
- Leverage and contribute to open-source projects to build advanced internal tools and frameworks.
- Develop and maintain internal platform services used by various engineering teams across Nutanix.
What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for engineers who are hungry, humble, honest, and driven by heart — the four core values that define Nutanix culture.
Required Skills:
- Strong programming skills in one or more languages: Java, Golang, C++, or Rust.
- Deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design.
- Experience with distributed databases, message queues, or workflow systems and the ability to choose the right tools for different use cases.
- Familiarity with OS internals, distributed data management, and high-performance fault-tolerant systems.
Preferred Skills (Huge Plus):
- Experience with containerization of stateful apps like Cassandra, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Redis, or Neo4j.
- Hands-on knowledge of Analytical Datastores such as Apache Druid or ClickHouse.
- Experience with Workflow systems (e.g., Conductor, Temporal, Apache Airflow).
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, Nomad, Istio, Consul, or other container orchestration and service mesh technologies.
